Job summary

Vision for Education Ltd are partnering with a welcoming mainstream secondary school in Lancaster to appoint a dedicated Teaching Assistant to work within the school's Alternative Provision.

The role starts in October 2026 for the full 2026/27 academic year, with potential for a permanent position for the right candidate. You will support pupils who may find the mainstream classroom challenging, focusing on learning, behaviour, and wellbeing.

Qualifications

• Experience working with young people, ideally in education or youth settings.
• Experience supporting SEMH or behavioural needs.
• Patient, resilient and calm under pressure.
• Strong communication and relationship-building skills.
• Ability to support pupils academically and pastorally.

Responsibilities

• Support pupils academically and pastorally in the Alternative Provision.
• Collaborate with teaching and pastoral teams to maintain a supportive learning environment.
• Help pupils re-engage with learning and build confidence.
• Adapt to pupils with SEMH, behavioural or additional needs.
