Job summary

Education First Recruitment is seeking an experienced Behaviour Mentor for a Pupil Referral Unit (PRU) in Hackney, starting September 2026 on a long-term basis. The role focuses on mentoring and behavioural support for pupils facing SEMH and other challenges, with a strong emphasis on positive behaviour strategies and student engagement.

Qualifications

• Experience supporting students with SEMH and behavioural difficulties is desirable.
• Ability to support students with ADHD, ASD and social/emotional needs is valued.

Responsibilities

• Provide 1:1 mentoring and behavioural intervention for pupils.
• Support pupils with SEMH, ADHD, ASD and social, emotional and behavioural difficulties.
• Implement positive behaviour management strategies to encourage engagement.
• Use de-escalation techniques to manage challenging situations.
• Support students to remain engaged in lessons and activities.
• Build positive relationships with pupils and act as a consistent role model.
• Encourage attendance, participation and positive choices throughout the day.
• Collaborate with teachers and pastoral staff to implement individual strategies.
• Help pupils develop emotional regulation and communication skills.
