Job summary

Step Teachers Ltd in Enfield is seeking an Interventions Teaching Assistant for a welcoming primary school. This full-time, temp-to-perm role starts November 2026 and supports pupils in Reception, Year 1 and Year 2 with targeted literacy, phonics and numeracy interventions.

You will collaborate with teachers to implement tailored plans, monitor progress, and foster pupil confidence and independence while safeguarding remains a priority. Salary is paid weekly via PAYE and depends on experience.

Qualifications

• Previous Teaching Assistant experience within a primary school setting
• Experience delivering interventions in EYFS and Key Stage 1
• Strong understanding of phonics and early literacy development
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
• Patient, nurturing, and proactive approach
• Ability to build positive relationships with pupils and staff
• Commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children

Responsibilities

• Deliver targeted intervention programmes across Reception, Year 1, and Year 2
• Support pupils with literacy, phonics, reading, writing, and numeracy development
• Work with individuals and small groups to accelerate progress
• Monitor and report on pupil outcomes and engagement
• Support children who require additional academic intervention
• Work closely with teachers and phase leaders to implement tailored support plans
• Help build pupils' confidence, independence, and enthusiasm for learning
