Job summary

Education World Ltd is seeking a compassionate Community Youth Worker to support young people with SEN and SEMH in the community and in their homes. You will build trusting relationships and deliver tailored support to promote engagement and positive life outcomes.

You will work with families, schools, and professionals to ensure coordinated support, help young people access community resources, and foster skills for successful reintegration into specialist education settings.

Qualifications

• Experience working with young people with SEN and SEMH needs.
• Ability to work independently in community or home environments.
• DBS check on the Update Service, or willingness to apply for one.
• Desirable: UK driving licence and access to own vehicle.
• Desirable: qualification in behaviour management, trauma-informed practice, or mental health support.

Responsibilities

• Provide one-to-one and small group support to young people with SEN and SEMH in community settings and homes.
• Build trusting relationships with disengaged or vulnerable young people.
• Develop and deliver individualised support plans addressing social barriers and emotional wellbeing.
• Support development of social skills, confidence, independence and readiness for re-integration into education.
• Collaborate with families, schools, social care and other professionals for coordinated support.
• Help access community resources and opportunities that promote inclusion and personal development.
• Encourage positive behaviour and provide de-escalation support when needed.
• Facilitate activities that develop life skills and emotional regulation.
