Job summary

AMA Admin is seeking a dedicated Behavioural Mentor for Trafford to support pupils with behavioural and emotional challenges. The role focuses on 1:1 and group mentoring, building positive relationships, and helping learners re-engage with education within a supportive school setting.

Prospective candidates should be patient, resilient, and excellent communicators, capable of working with SEND/SEMH needs and coordinating with staff and families as required.

Qualifications

  • Experience working with children or young people.
  • Ability to support pupils with challenging behaviour and emotional needs.
  • Patient, resilient and empathetic.
  • Strong professional relationships with pupils.
  • Consistent and confident when implementing behaviour strategies.
  • Excellent communication skills.
  • Passionate about improving outcomes for young people.
  • Experience with SEND, SEMH or challenging behaviour advantageous.

Responsibilities

  • Provide 1:1 and small-group mentoring to pupils.
  • Build positive, trusting relationships with young people.
  • Support pupils to develop strategies for managing behaviour and emotions.
  • Help pupils re-engage with learning and the wider school community.
  • Support positive behaviour management strategies.
  • Work closely with teachers, pastoral staff, SEN teams and families where appropriate.
  • Encourage pupils to develop confidence, resilience and independence.
  • Maintain accurate records of interventions and pupil progress.
  • Create a safe, supportive and inclusive environment.
