Job summary

Tradewind Recruitment LTD. seeks an Art Instructor to support a dynamic Alternative Provision in the Burnley area. You will design hands-on, therapeutic art projects to engage students who may have disengaged from mainstream education.

You will create engaging sessions without a rigid curriculum, adapting to different ages and abilities while promoting curiosity, self-expression, and resilience. A DBS check is expected and ASASP start is preferred.

Qualifications

• Background in art, design, fine arts, or art therapy.
• Experience teaching, mentoring, or working with young people (youth work, alternative provision, or SEN environments is a strong plus).
• Knowledge of social, emotional, and mental health (SEMH) needs; be calm, adaptable and positive.

Responsibilities

• Deliver creative sessions: plan and lead engaging art workshops tailored to small groups or 1-to-1 settings.
• Foster a safe environment where students feel safe to express themselves and take creative risks.
• Build positive relationships using patience and empathy with students of diverse needs.
• Track engagement: monitor student progress and participation; celebrate progress.
• Collaborate with education and support staff to support student welfare and development.
