Job summary

Tradewind is seeking an Outdoor Education Tutor to support a leading Alternative Provision in the Burnley area. The role is a maternity cover from September 2026 to Easter 2027, with a daily rate of pay.

Responsibilities include delivering practical outdoor learning programmes, bushcraft, team-building, and adapting sessions for SEMH needs while ensuring safety and positive behaviour.

Qualifications

• Previous experience in an Alternative Provision, PRU, or with high-risk/SEMH youth.
• Desirable outdoor instructional certifications such as Mountain Leader, Forest School Leader, Paddle Sports, Bushcraft.
• Clean driving licence and access to vehicle preferred for travel to outdoor sites around Burnley.

What We Are Looking For

Experience

• Previous experience working within an Alternative Provision, Pupil Referral Unit (PRU), or with high‑risk/SEMH youth.

Qualifications

• Relevant outdoor instructional qualifications (e.g., Mountain Leader, Forest School Leader, Paddle Sports, Bushcraft) are highly desirable.

Skills

• Excellent behaviour management skills, empathy, and a thick skin.
• Ability to act as a role model and build trust quickly.

Logistics
