Job summary

ONI is seeking a Software Engineer in Oxford to build software that automates acquisition and analysis for super-resolution microscopy. You will contribute to enterprise-grade software, design high-performance C++ components, and develop image processing/ML solutions for nanoscale challenges.

The role emphasizes collaboration with hardware, firmware, and software teams, writing clear, testable code, and delivering actionable insights to researchers across environments.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Bioinformatics or related field.
• Minimum of 3 years experience developing image processing algorithms and applications.
• Proficient in modern C++ (C++14/17/20) and low-level programming.
• Experience working in Agile/SCRUM software development.
• Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.

Responsibilities

• Build solutions for scientists to automate their acquisition and analysis
• Contribute to the delivery of high-quality enterprise scale software solutions
• Design, implement, and test high-performance C++ applications
• Devise, implement, and test innovative image processing/analysis/machine learning solutions to address nano-scale microscopy challenges
• Debug and troubleshoot hardware/software integration issues at the system and signal level
• Collaborate with hardware, firmware, and software engineers to align software behavior with hardware specs
• Write and maintain clear, well-documented, and testable code
• Communicate with interdisciplinary teams across software, product, bioware, chemistry, and hardware
