Job summary

ONI in Oxford seeks a Software Engineer to build software solutions for automating acquisition and analysis in nanoscale microscopy. You will design, implement, and test high-performance C++ applications, collaborating with hardware, firmware, and software teams to deliver enterprise-scale solutions.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Bioinformatics, or a related field.
  • 3+ years of experience as a Software Engineer or similar role, developing high-performance software in C++.
  • Proficient in modern C++ (C++14/17/20) and low-level programming.
  • Experience with Agile/SCRUM software development.
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.

  • Build solutions for scientists to automate acquisition and analysis.
  • Contribute to deliver high-quality enterprise-scale software solutions.
  • Design, implement, and test high-performance C++ applications.

Your Role at ONI:
  • Build solutions for scientists to automate their acquisition and analysis.
  • Contribute to the delivery of high-quality enterprise-scale software solutions.
  • Design, implement, and test high-performance C++ applications.
  • Devise, implement, and test innovative software solutions to address challenges in nanoscale microscopy and deliver value to customers. Experience with image processing, image analysis, or machine learning is beneficial.
  • Debug and troubleshoot hardware/software integration issues at the system and signal level.
  • Collaborate with hardware, firmware, and software engineers to align software behavior with hardware specifications.
  • Write and maintain clear, well-documented, and testable code.
  • Effectively communicate and collaborate with interdisciplinary teams, including software engineering, product management, bioware, chemistry, and hardware, ensuring seamless integration and alignment of goals across all departments.
Essential skills and qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Bioinformatics, or a related field.
  • Minimum of 3 years' experience as a Software Engineer or in a similar role, developing high-performance software applications in C++.
  • Proficient in modern C++ (C++14/17/20) and low-level programming.
  • Experience working in Agile/SCRUM software development.
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
