Job summary

ONI in Oxford seeks a Software Engineer to build software solutions for automating acquisition and analysis in nanoscale microscopy. You will design, implement, and test high-performance C++ applications, collaborating with hardware, firmware, and software teams to deliver enterprise-scale solutions.

The role values strong problem-solving skills, experience in C++, and familiarity with image processing or machine learning pipelines, with an emphasis on quality, documentation, and teamwork.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Bioinformatics, or a related field.
• 3+ years of experience as a Software Engineer or similar role, developing high-performance software in C++.
• Proficient in modern C++ (C++14/17/20) and low-level programming.
• Experience with Agile/SCRUM software development.
• Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.

Responsibilities

• Build solutions for scientists to automate acquisition and analysis.
• Contribute to deliver high-quality enterprise-scale software solutions.
• Design, implement, and test high-performance C++ applications.
• Devise, implement, and test software for nanoscale microscopy with image processing/ML pipelines beneficial.
• Debug and troubleshoot hardware/software integration at system level.
• Collaborate with hardware, firmware, and software engineers to align software with hardware specs.
• Write and maintain clear, well-documented, testable code.
• Communicate effectively with interdisciplinary teams across departments.
