Job summary

Oxford Instruments Andor seeks a senior Machine Learning Software Engineer to join the Imaris software team and help shape the future of intelligent image analysis within our world-class scientific products. This role focuses on applying ML and computer vision to image analysis, processing, object detection and segmentation on large multidimensional datasets in high-performance computing environments.

Qualifications

• BSc / MSc in Computer Science, Data Science, Mathematics, Physics, Engineering or a related quantitative discipline, or equivalent industry experience.
• Experience in software engineering, machine learning development or advanced applied research.
• Production-level ML deployment experience and strong Python proficiency.
• Deep understanding of ML theory, image processing and computer vision concepts.

Responsibilities

• Research, develop and deploy advanced ML solutions for image analysis, processing, detection and segmentation.
• Evaluate challenges and determine effective ML approaches, developing custom models or adapting state-of-the-art solutions.
• Explore new technologies to improve product capabilities and performance.
• Design, develop and maintain robust software solutions and integrate ML into desktop apps.
• Contribute to the C++ architecture and participate in code reviews and engineering best practices.
• Profile and optimise model execution for CPU and GPU in large multidimensional datasets.
• Provide technical leadership, mentoring and collaboration with engineers, scientists and PMs.
• Travel occasionally to other Oxford Instruments sites as required.
