Job summary

Hampton City Schools seeks a Special Education Program Advisor for Hampton High School on a full-time, 11-month schedule to provide case management leadership and on-site support for special education teachers, administrators, students and families.

The role includes ensuring IEP compliance, data collection, progress reporting, and collaboration with coordinators to support professional growth and program effectiveness.

Qualifications

• Teaching license with a special education endorsement.
• At least three years of current documented successful teaching experience as a special education teacher.
• Clear understanding of federal and state regulations under IDEA.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Skilled in working with instructional staff, school administrators, parent/families, and students with disabilities.
• Skilled in working with adult learners.
• Strong meeting and project facilitation skills.
• Strong conflict resolution and creative problem solving skills.
• Excellent teaming and collaboration skills.
• Demonstrates initiative and ability to complete projects on time.
• Organized and detail oriented.
• Technologically proficient.

Responsibilities

• Provides on site support and technical assistance to special education roster teachers/case managers and administrators.
• Articulates how special education policies apply to eligibility, development and implementation of the IEP, data collection and reporting, and the application of specially designed instruction.
• Collaborates with coordinators and administrators to support teacher professional growth.
• Works with administrators assigned to Special Education in support of special and general education teachers and students with disabilities.
• Organizes and facilitates regular roster teacher/case manager meetings to review caseloads and progress.
• May serve as Division Representative in IEP meetings.
• Attends special education training activities and IL meetings.
• Plans CLT training to promote effective case management and compliance.
• Provides preparation for IEP meetings including facilitation, conflict resolution and problem solving.
• Acts as liaison with the special education department and other departments.
• Maintains expertise on effective instructional and management practices for programs in assigned schools.
• Demonstrates professional and ethical leadership across settings.
