Term Time Only +10 days; 37 Hours Per Week

Grade 7, Points 1 to 11 (Currently £25,584 to £27,269 Full Time Equivalent – Actual Salary £23,551 to £25,102) Grading Pending Job Evaluation and Annual Inflation Increase

Governors of this popular, successful and oversubscribed 11-16 High School are seeking to appoint a committed, motivated and enthusiastic ICT technician to join our team. The job description has been updated following retirement of the long-standing previous post holder. The salary grading is therefore pending job evaluation. The successful applicant will be employed to work 37 hours per week (term time only, plus 10 additional days during holiday periods).

At Elton, we have an ICT Managed Service with Abtec. They manage our network infrastructure and high level ICT monitoring. The ICT Technician post will be fully supported by Abtec. All ICT Issues are reported through a helpdesk environment and the day to day jobs will be allocated to the post holder.

Duties will include monitoring the helpdesk job tickets; first and second line support for all network connected hardware and software including desktops, laptops, Wi-Fi, switches, routers, firewalls, servers, phone system and other IT peripherals; maintaining new and existing accounts on the school’s local network through Active Directory, Group Policy, Office 365 and Google; and delivering an outstanding IT service that is highly customer focused to both staff and students.

The Elton High School is a significantly oversubscribed school with a tradition of excellence. Our most recent Ofsted inspection (February 2022) reiterated the strengths that had been confirmed in the previous report (2017) and are firmly embedded across our school. The inspection team noted that ‘pupils are proud to attend’ Elton with an established culture of ‘high aspirations for what pupils can achieve’. Our students achieve well, with inspectors being particularly impressed with the climate for learning and behaviour of our students – their ‘positive behaviour at all times is characteristic of the respectful culture of this school [and] their positive conduct reflects leaders’ high standards’.

We have a strong system of staff training in place aimed at developing the very best practice, moreover we have a constant focus on ensuring that all of our team feel supported to give of their best and to have a work life balance. Initiatives include a half termly Golden Week (no meetings scheduled) and an annual Well-being Day for every member of staff.
