Job summary

Bromsgrove District Council and Redditch Borough Council are seeking an ICT Project Officer on a fixed-term basis (12 months). The role covers the full project lifecycle for ICT initiatives to improve council services, with responsibilities for stakeholder engagement and adherence to government policies.

Fixed term – 12 months

Situated in North Worcestershire, Bromsgrove District Council and Redditch Borough Council share services. About the role

The ICT Project Officer is responsible for the whole project lifecycle (scoping to closedown) of ICT project and/or the ICT elements of wider business projects for Bromsgrove and Redditch Councils to enable services to continuously improve.

The ICT Project Officer provides advice and support across all project areas and actively builds a professional relationship with stakeholders and customers.

The ICT Project Officer ensures the delivery of high-quality projects that align with our goals and objectives, while also adhering to government regulations and policies.

The ICT Project Officer will be required to work on their own initiative for most of their working time and this may include recommending decisions that could affect wide areas of the organisation. This may include working evenings and weekends to manage particular situations.

The ICT Project Officer actively builds a professional relationship with stakeholders across the Councils and ensures delivery of the projects they need to enable them to improve their service delivery.

The role will involve working closely with other ICT teams, as well as internal and external stakeholders, to deliver ICT projects to agreed quality, in time and within agreed budgets.

Responsibilities

As a Project Officer, you will:

  • Manage delivery of the ICT projects and/or ICT elements of wider business projects
  • Ensure compliance with all Council defined project management standards and methodologies (e.g. Prince2)
  • Ensure high quality, efficient and effective project delivery
  • Ensure that processes and procedures for monitoring and reporting on project delivery and outcomes are in place and operated effectively, and that action is taken, either personally or via escalation, to deal with risks, issues and unforeseen events in a timely manner.
  • Proactively identify and manage risks to the ICT projects ensuring that appropriate mitigations are in place to protect project timescales, budgets and quality.
  • Ensure that the ICT Projects remain compliant with relevant policies, standards and regulations, including data protection and information security.
  • Work closely with other ICT teams to deliver integrated, high-quality ICT projects to the local government organisation, ensuring that budget, timescales and quality standards are met.
  • Manage and maintain relationships with internal and external stakeholders, including other local government organisations, suppliers and contractors, to ensure that ICT projects are delivered in a cost-effective and efficient manner.
  • Continuously review and improve ICT project processes and procedures, identifying opportunities for improvement and implementing changes as required.
  • Manage third Party Service Providers, Contracts and Contractors to ensure project deliverables are achieved to enable benefit realisation
  • Monitor and report on project status, risks, and issues, and provide regular updates to senior managers, elected officials and other stakeholders.
  • Keep abreast of emerging technologies and industry trends to ensure the project team is effective, efficient and innovative.
  • Ensure timely, clear, and concise communications are sent out to customers regarding any project updates, improvements or issues which may affect them.
