Job description

Uttlesford District Council is a small rural district council, based in the market town of Saffron Walden in North Essex, recently voted as the best place to live in the UK. We’re ideally located just off the M11 with easy access to London and Cambridge and an international airport on our doorstep. Uttlesford borders South Cambridgeshire and Hertfordshire.

We’re looking for a proactive and technically skilled Application Support Analyst to join our IT team. In this vital role, you will provide first and second line support for the Council’s key applications and systems, ensuring high-quality service delivery to our users. If you’re a motivated IT professional with a strong customer-service ethos and a passion for solving problems, we’d love to hear from you.

This is an excellent opportunity to make a contribution to the development, maintenance, and enhancement of business-critical systems that support both staff and residents across the district. This is a varied and rewarding position that offers the chance to play a crucial role in modernising and supporting digital services across the Council.

Duties Include:
• Responding to and resolving help desk calls in line with agreed SLAs.
• Install, configure, and support a wide range of software applications and systems.
• Participate in projects to enhance IT services and infrastructure.
• Provide remote and on-site support for users and systems across the district.
• Maintain accurate software asset registers and carry out audits.
• Deliver high-level application support, including SQL and Access databases.
• Carry out essential system maintenance tasks, such as backup checks and log monitoring.
• Support remote working solutions and assist with system testing and live rollouts.
• Ensure continuous improvement of applications to meet business and customer needs.
• Actively participate in personal development and training.

Uttlesford District Council is a family friendly Council. We encourage and support our employees to have a healthy work life balance as well as offering a range of benefits including generous annual leave, plus bank holidays (pro-rata), leisure centre discounts, membership of the Local Government Pension Scheme and an online platform offering discounts from online retailers.
