Qualifications

• ACC renewal or refresher within last 3 years.
• Formal clinical coding standards knowledge.
• Degree or equivalent training in a related field.
• Anatomy & physiology knowledge required.
• Experience with NHS Digital coding workshops preferred.

Responsibilities

• Review and analyse patient records to identify diagnoses, comorbidities and procedures.
• Assign ICD-10 and OPCS-4 codes according to national guidelines.
• Code complex inpatient cases and liaise with clinicians for accuracy.
• Maintain high coding quality and productivity with timely data output.
• Explain coding decisions to clinical and admin staff.
• Collaborate with clinicians to clarify diagnoses and procedures.
• Share knowledge and provide guidance within the coding team.
• Plan personal workload and meet deadlines.
• Contribute to monthly coding targets and team coverage.
• Utilise clinical systems to gather and validate coding information.
