Job summary

Thames Water is seeking an Instrumentation, Controls & Automation Technician to join the Oxford Wastewater site. You will manage planned ICA maintenance and respond to alarms across the site, contributing to safe, reliable operations.

The role requires experience with SCADA/PLC systems, instrumentation calibration, and fault finding from diagrams. A valid UK driving licence and hands-on problem solving are essential for success.

Qualifications

• Ideally, you will be qualified to HNC level or NVQ Level 3 in instrumentation, control and automation.
• 18th Edition (BS7671) qualification and 3‑phase electrical knowledge or qualifications are preferred.
• Experience with Wonderware and ClearSCADA is desirable.

Responsibilities

• Deliver planned and reactive ICA maintenance to ensure asset reliability and compliance.
• Support site control systems, including SCADA, PLCs, and process control networks.
• Work effectively within a multi‑disciplinary team across operations, electrical, and mechanical functions.
• Install, commission, and fault‑find on instrumentation and control equipment to industry standards.
• Investigate plant and equipment failures and complete timely repairs to minimise downtime.
• Provide ICA technical expertise and maintain current knowledge of best practices.
