Job summary

Thames Water is recruiting an Instrumentation, Control & Automation (ICA) Technician at Oxford Wastewater Treatment Works, part of the Thames Valley North Wastewater Operations Region. This hands-on role bases in Oxford with a view to supporting other sites to keep assets running safely and reliably.

You will deliver planned ICA maintenance, respond to alarms, and work with multi-disciplinary teams. A strong health and safety culture, a full UK driving licence, and ability to read diagrams are

Qualifications

• Qualified to HNC level or NVQ3 in instrumentation, control and automation.
• Preferably 18th Edition (BS7671) qualification and 3‑phase electrical knowledge.
• Full UK driving licence and ability to read circuit diagrams.

Responsibilities

• Deliver planned and reactive ICA maintenance to ensure asset reliability and compliance.
• Support site control systems including SCADA, PLCs, and process networks.
• Work with multi-disciplinary teams across operations, electrical and mechanical functions.
• Install, commission and fault-find instrumentation and control equipment to industry standards.
• Investigate plant failures and perform timely repairs to minimise downtime.
• Provide ICA technical expertise and keep knowledge up to date with best practices.
