Job summary

West Hertfordshire Teaching Hospitals NHS Trust is seeking a dynamic, full-time substantive consultant gastroenterologist with a subspecialty interest in Inflammatory Bowel Disease, to join a team of fourteen gastroenterologists.

The post carries 10 programmed activities with a 1:14 on-call rota for weekend and weekday out-of-hours gastroenterology cover and a 1:7 rota for ward cover. You will travel to Watford General Hospital, Hemel Hempstead Hospital and St Albans Hospital.

Qualifications

• CCT in Gastroenterology and General Medicine required.
• MD or PhD advantageous.
• Experience and interest in managing complex Inflammatory Bowel Disease.

Responsibilities

• Independent care of patients with complex IBD.
• Lead and contribute to IBD MDTs.
• Support and training of IBD nurses.
• Foster close teamworking within the IBD team.
• Support networking with internal and external providers.
• Support IBD data collection/audit and database.
• Implement national policies and GIRFT recommendations relating to IBD care.
• Maintain CPD.
