Job summary

West Hertfordshire Teaching Hospitals NHS Trust is seeking a dynamic, full-time Consultant Gastroenterologist with a subspecialist interest in Inflammatory Bowel Disease. The post involves independent care of complex IBD, leadership of IBD MDTs, and training of IBD nurses across three Trust sites.

You will join a team of fourteen gastroenterologists, contribute to data collection, audits, and implement national and local guidelines, while maintaining CPD.

Qualifications

• CCT in Gastroenterology and General Medicine is required.
• Full GMC registration with license to practice is required.
• MD or PhD is desirable or essential as per job specification.

Responsibilities

• Contribute to the smooth running, governance, and development of the IBD service.
• Lead and participate in IBD MDTs.
• Support and training of the IBD nurses.
• Foster teamwork within the IBD team and liaise with colorectal colleagues.
• Engage in data collection/audit and implement national/local guidelines.
• Endoscopy: elective, training, and inpatient emergency; outpatient and inpatient duties.
• Cover GI ward as Consultant of the week; participate in weekend on-call rota.
