Job summary

Salford Royal NHS Foundation Trust is hiring a Staff Nurse on the Hyper Acute Stroke Unit. The post holder will deliver high-quality, evidence-based nursing care to a designated group of patients, while supporting care for all patients on the ward.

You will assess care needs, plan and deliver treatment, evaluate patient outcomes and ensure effective communication across the multidisciplinary team. The role also involves supervising learners and unregistered staff.

Qualifications

• Must have proven post-registration experience.
• Must have completed registered nursing preceptorship.

Responsibilities

• Assess, plan, deliver and evaluate individualised programmes of care for patients.
• Undertake nursing interventions based on evidence-based practice and apply specialist clinical skills relevant to stroke care.
• Monitor the effectiveness of nursing care and adjust plans as needed.
• Provide holistic support to patients and families, maintaining dignity, privacy, and compassionate care.
• Assist in the daily management and organisation of ward activities, ensuring clear communication at all times.
• Collaborate effectively with the multidisciplinary team and make referrals where appropriate.
• Participate in maintaining a safe, positive, and coordinated ward environment.
• Support, mentor, teach, supervise, and assess learners and unregistered staff.
• Act as a named supervisor and contribute to the development of junior colleagues.
• Practice within professional, ethical, and legal nursing frameworks.
• Uphold organisational values (Care, Appreciate, Inspire) in all aspects of work.
• Maintain accurate and clear documentation in line with policy.
