Job summary

Dorset County Hospital NHS Foundation Trust is recruiting Band 5 Registered Nurses to join a growing Stroke Service and contribute to the Hyper‑Acute Stroke Unit (HASU) development. You will deliver safe, compassionate care across hyper‑acute, acute, and early rehabilitation pathways for patients with complex neurological needs.

You will work closely with Stroke Consultants, Specialist Nurses, Therapists, and the wider MDT to support patients and families through critical moments, with access to

Qualifications

• Passionate about stroke care and rapid clinical decision making.
• Able to work effectively in fast‑paced, high‑pressure environments.
• Willingness to develop NIHSS, thrombolysis/thrombectomy pathways, dysphagia management, and neurological assessment.

Responsibilities

• Deliver high‑quality nursing care to patients with acute and hyper‑acute stroke presentations.
• Conduct neurological observations, NIHSS scoring, and escalation as needed.
• Support post‑thrombolysis monitoring and early mobilisation.
• Collaborate with the MDT to deliver personalised rehabilitation plans.
