Job summary

DFDS in Grimsby is seeking a Hygiene Assistant for night shifts (Mon-Fri, 22:00-06:00) to uphold hygiene standards across the warehouse and site. You will follow cleaning schedules, ensure food safety, and maintain compliance with BRC requirements.

Training is provided; reliability, punctuality, and the ability to work independently are essential. The role operates in a chilled environment and involves team collaboration to sustain cleanliness and safety.

Qualifications

• Previous cleaning or hygiene experience preferred but training provided.
• Good understanding of health and safety practices.

About the role

Working Monday to Friday, 22:00-06:00, you'll play a vital role in maintaining hygiene and cleanliness standards across the warehouse and site. You're responsible for ensuring cleaning schedules are completed, food safety standards are maintained, and the facility remains compliant with company and BRC requirements.

Responsibilities

• Following cleaning schedules, hygiene procedures, and company policies at all times
• Safely using cleaning chemicals and equipment in line with COSHH guidelines
• Carrying out deep-cleaning activities to maintain site hygiene and BRC standards
• Conducting pre- and post-cleaning inspections to ensure standards are achieved
• Managing waste and recycling areas, ensuring they remain clean and compliant
• Maintaining hygiene standards in warehouse, loading, and external operational areas
• Recording completed tasks and managing your workload to ensure all cleaning objectives are achieved

About you

Previous cleaning or hygiene experience is preferred but not essential, as full training can be provided. You'll have a good understanding of health and safety practices and be committed to maintaining the highest standards of cleanliness and food safety.

You'll thrive in this role if you're reliable, punctual, and able to manage your own workload effectively. You'll be confident working independently, using a variety of cleaning equipment and maintaining a structured approach throughout your shift. Strong attention to detail, a proactive attitude, and the ability to work as part of a wider team are essential.

This role involves working within a chilled warehouse environment maintained between 0-5°C, as well as supporting hygiene standards across external loading and waste management areas. A flexible approach and willingness to take ownership of your responsibilities will help you succeed.
