Job summary

United Utilities is offering a 12-month internship in the network modelling team at Lingley Mere, Warrington. The role provides hands-on training with industry-standard software such as Synergi, InfoWorks WS Pro, EPAnet and ArcGIS, developing hydraulic modelling and data analytics skills.

You will work alongside engineers and modellers, taking ownership of meaningful pieces of work, and contributing to continuous improvements while gaining professional development and potential future

Qualifications

• Degree in Engineering, Geography, Environmental Science, Mathematics, Data Science, or a related discipline.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills applicable to real-world challenges.
• Curiosity to research new ideas, technologies and approaches that enhance modelling.
• Ability to interpret data and support evidence-based decision-making.
• Excellent communication and collaborative mindset across teams.

Responsibilities

• Use industry-standard software to analyse network performance and inform solutions.
• Collaborate with operational teams to investigate issues and identify root causes.
• Develop, validate and run hydraulic network models for different scenarios.
• Produce clear technical reports presenting modelling results to stakeholders.
• Analyse data to identify trends and provide evidence-based recommendations.
• Support continuous improvements in modelling capabilities.
