Artis Recruitment Ltd is partnering with a Bristol-based professional services organisation to appoint a Web Engineering Manager who will lead the development of a key customer-facing digital platform. The role blends 60% people management and technical leadership with 40% hands-on engineering.

You will shape the engineering direction, architecture and standards while remaining actively involved in design, reviews and crucial technical challenges, driving modern, scalable web platforms.

Qualifications

• Experience leading software engineering teams.
• Experience with APIs, modern web architectures and AWS.
• Background in architectural design of complex web platforms.
• Experience with code reviews, engineering standards and CI/CD.
• Strong stakeholder management and communication skills.
• Experience with headless architecture and multi-brand platforms would be advantageous.

Responsibilities

• Lead, mentor and develop the engineering team.
• Define technical architecture, standards and the engineering roadmap.
• Hands-on with solution design, code reviews and key technical challenges.
• Drive development best practice, testing, automation and CI/CD improvements.
• Support the evolution and management of AWS cloud infrastructure.
• Ensure platform performance, security, scalability and reliability.
• Manage external engineering partners and maintain delivery standards.
