Job summary

Lloyds Banking Group seeks a Senior SME Area Director to lead the Black Country and Shropshire Trading Team, managing a diverse client portfolio and a high performing group of Relationship Directors and Managers. The role focuses on growth, risk governance and external market leadership.

You will drive strategic planning, mentor staff, oversee complex client proposals, and collaborate with senior stakeholders to deliver value for clients and the bank.

Qualifications

• Proven SME or commercial banking leader with accountability for a significant client portfolio and team performance.
• Experience leading Relationship Director and Relationship Manager teams, driving consistent performance outcomes.
• Strong track record in income generation, balance sheet oversight, and governance within a regulated environment.

Responsibilities

• Lead Black Country and Shropshire Trading Team within the Midlands region.
• Mentor, develop and appraise team members to deliver stretching business goals.
• Oversee client proposals, ensure policy and compliance alignment, and identify opportunities for income growth.
• Interact with senior client stakeholders (MDs/FDs/Boards) to strengthen relationships and market presence.
• Represent the bank externally to support business development and client acquisition.
