Job summary

Capital One (Europe) plc in Nottingham is seeking a Service Design Manager to partner with project teams, ensuring reliable production landings and strong operational foundations. You’ll shape early design, work hands-on with processes and tooling, and lead continual improvements within Service Transition.

You’ll collaborate across SRE and engineering to map dependencies, establish objectives, and drive production readiness. A committed, hands-on innovator will thrive here.

Qualifications

• Strong influencing and communication skills.
• Experience applying stakeholder knowledge to problem solving.
• Experience in live IT infrastructure environments.
• Excellent at building relationships with diverse stakeholders.
• Service/Support readiness track record in tech services.
• Ability to work through ambiguity to reach service-based solutions.
• Knowledge of AWS concepts and modern infra terminology.
• Interest in hands-on process and tooling improvements.
• Experience with Agile project management and ITIL foundations.

Responsibilities

• Manage, track and prioritise service requirements through to completion.
• Consult on supportability, reliability and operational readiness during design.
• Define Service Level Objectives and govern standards and tooling.
• Map dependencies and operational impact for new or changed services.
• Champion observability and improve support documentation with engineering.
• Formulate action plans for service risks and non-negotiable requirements.
• Collaborate with SRE, Product Engineering, and Service Operations as a link between delivery and support.
• Influence production readiness decisions and provide go/no-go recommendations.
• Act as Change Manager for production deployments.
• Contribute to continual improvement of Service Transition processes.
