Job summary

Capital One UK is hiring a Senior Software Engineering Manager in Nottingham with a hybrid pattern (3 in-office days Tue–Thu, 2 days remote). You’ll lead 3–4 engineering teams, coach managers, and work with product and design on roadmap delivery.

You’ll steward platform capabilities and help evolve engineering practices and culture to drive measurable impact. The role emphasizes recruiting top engineering talent, cross-team collaboration, and delivering high-value features for credit card

Led and supported multi-disciplined engineering teams to meet business goals.
Experience communicating across engineering to maximise efficiency and reduce waste.
Proven ability to recruit and develop engineering talent.
Experience balancing short-term trade-offs with long-term platform goals.

Responsibilities

Support 3–4 engineering teams to design, develop and integrate software features for credit card consumers.
Coach and nurture engineering managers to empower teams to achieve goals.
Collaborate with product managers and designers on roadmaps for key business goals.
Provide stewardship of the platform and capabilities owned by the teams.
Be part of the engineering leadership to evolve practices and adopt best practices.
Lead culture, vision, and drive change across the organization.
Work with associates across the business to identify and implement impactful changes.
