Job summary

Curtis Recruitment Limited is helping an accountancy practice recruit a Senior Accountant who will act as a Client Manager, owning a varied portfolio of owner-managed businesses and advising clients directly. The role combines autonomy with leadership and excellent client service.

The successful candidate will be a fully qualified ACCA/ACA/CIMA member with at least five years' UK practice experience, capable of handling year-end accounts, corporation tax, and VAT with minimal supervision.

Qualifications

• Fully qualified ACCA, ACA or CIMA.
• Minimum five years' experience in a UK accountancy practice.
• Strong year-end accounts preparation and confident handling of corporation tax, self-assessment, and VAT.
• Ability to manage a portfolio with minimal supervision.
• Clear, professional communication with clients and colleagues.
• Experience with cloud-based accounting and practice management software.
• Familiarity with MTD for Income Tax.
• Exposure to SEIS/EIS, director loan accounts, and s455 tax.

Responsibilities

• Portfolio management – manage files start to finish, prepare and review statutory accounts for various entities.
• Taxation – prepare corporation tax computations, self-assessment returns, and VAT returns/advisory.
• Client relations – build strong relationships and manage expectations.
• Team leadership – mentor and support junior team members.
• Practice growth – identify value-add opportunities and stay ahead of regulatory changes.
