Job summary

First Choice Staff in Birmingham is seeking an experienced Seafreight Import Customer Service Operator to join a well-established international Freight and Logistics organisation. You will take ownership of import shipments from booking through to final delivery and maintain proactive communication with customers.

The role requires freight forwarding experience, customer-focused problem solving, and the ability to coordinate with overseas partners, carriers and suppliers.

Qualifications

• Experience in freight forwarding or seafreight imports.
• Strong customer service and problem-solving skills.
• Ability to manage multiple shipments and priorities.
• Excellent attention to detail and proactive communication.

Responsibilities

• Take ownership of import shipments from booking to delivery.
• Provide proactive shipment updates and maintain customer communication.
• Monitor shipments for delays and raise issues promptly.
• Investigate problems with operations and suppliers to resolve them.
• Handle enquiries and complaints professionally.
• Record customer requirements, rates, and service levels accurately.
• Liaise with overseas agents, carriers, hauliers, and logistics partners.
• Onboard new customers with operations and sales; monitor service performance.
