Job summary

SmartestEnergy is seeking a Product Control Analyst to deliver robust valuation, P&L, and risk reporting across trading activities. You will explain drivers of P&L and exposures to Front Office and Senior Management, escalate key risks, and provide practical risk advice to guide decisions.

You will strengthen the team through automation and development of tools using Excel, VBA, SQL, and Python, while onboarding new products, instruments, and markets.

Qualifications

• Experience in Product Control, Market Risk, or a similar middle-office function with strong knowledge of risk measurement and P&L reporting.
• Exposure to Gas & Power Trading, Sales, or Flow environments and energy markets is advantageous.
• Strong analytical and technical capability with Excel/VBA, SQL/SSIS, Python, or Power BI.
• Familiarity with ETRMs or other trading and risk management systems is desirable.

Responsibilities

• Provide robust valuation, P&L monitoring, and risk reporting across trading activities.
• Explain drivers of P&L, positions, and exposures to stakeholders; escalate risks and breaches.
• Develop tools and processes using Excel, VBA, SQL, and Python; support onboarding of new products and markets.
