Job summary

SmartestEnergy is seeking a Product Control/Market Risk professional in the UK to help understand financial positions, explain the numbers, and provide clear insights to stakeholders. You will work independently and with colleagues to assess risk, support new products and markets, and drive improvements using Excel, VBA, SQL, Python, and Power BI.

The role emphasizes ownership, problem solving, and influencing outcomes.

Qualifications

• Relevant experience in Product Control or Market Risk.
• Exposure to Gas & Power Trading/Sales/Flow industries is a prerequisite.
• Sound understanding of financial products and trading businesses.
• Knowledge of commodities, profit & loss attribution.
• Experience with Derivatives, FX, Futures, Swaps, Options and Option Greeks.
• Good programming and modelling skill set in two or more of (Excel/Excel VBA/SQL/SSIS/Python/Power BI).

Responsibilities

• Understand and explain complex financial positions behind the numbers.
• Provide clear, actionable insight to stakeholders across the business.
• Act as a trusted Product Control expert to support risk and reporting.
• Assess risk, support new products and markets, and drive improvements.
• Develop concepts, build and test models, and communicate practical recommendations.
