Job summary

Stratford-on-Avon District Council is seeking a Registered Building Inspector (Class 2A) to deliver statutory Building Control functions across the district. You will appraise plans, inspect works and ensure compliance with Building Act 1984, Building Regulations, and related schemes.

A diverse caseload and opportunities for professional development await. You will join an experienced team, manage complex development sites, coordinate enforcement, and support residents, partners and stakeholders

Qualifications

• Experience managing Class 2A Building Control work, including site inspections and plan appraisals.
• Knowledge of Building Regulations and Building Act 1984.
• Ability to liaise with stakeholders at all levels.
• Capable of recording accurate records and meeting deadlines.

Responsibilities

• Assess Building Regulation applications for Class 2A buildings.
• Caseload management: submissions, regularisations and reversion cases.
• Undertake enforcement actions for non‑compliance and prepare prosecution cases.
• Respond to dangerous structure assessments and participate in out‑of‑hours rota.
• Provide clear professional advice to applicants and contractors.
• Promote continuous improvement and customer satisfaction across Building Control services.
