Job summary

The Council’s Building Control team is seeking a Registered Building Inspector Class 2 to ensure developments comply with building regulations and to deliver a high-quality, customer-focused service. The role offers opportunities to develop building control experience within a supportive team and to contribute to service improvement.

Ideal candidates will hold RICS or CABE membership, understand the building control process, and be capable of assessing building plans while aiming for Band B

Qualifications

Job Purpose

We are seeking a suitably qualified Registered Building Inspector Class 2 to join the Council’s Building Control team. The successful candidate will help ensure that building developments comply with relevant building regulations, while supporting the delivery of a high-quality, customer-focused service.

This role offers the opportunity to further develop building control experience within a supportive and hardworking team, contributing to the continued performance and improvement of the Council’s service.

Key Responsibilities

• Assess building plans to ensure compliance with relevant building regulations and requirements.
• Support the building control process as part of one of the Council’s building control teams.
• Apply knowledge of building regulations when reviewing proposed developments and building work.
• Help maintain high standards of service delivery and customer satisfaction.
• Provide a professional and responsive service to customers and other stakeholders.
• Contribute to the continued improvement and performance of the Building Control Service.
• Help maintain the Council’s reputation for delivering high-quality building control services.

Essential Requirements

• Membership of either the Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors (RICS) or the Chartered Association of Building Engineers (CABE).
• Understanding of the building control process and relevant building regulations.
• Ability to carry out building plan assessments.
• Willingness and ability to attain Band B – General Registration with the Building Safety Regulator.
• Strong communication and customer service skills.
• Ability to work effectively as part of a team and contribute to service objectives.
