Job summary

Matchtech seeks a Configuration Engineer/Configuration Manager for a highly regulated engineering environment in Reading. You will guard configuration items, baselines, and change processes across multidisciplinary programmes in a hybrid working setup.

The role requires strong CM discipline, lifecycle governance knowledge, and the ability to collaborate with project, quality, and assurance teams. Clearance to SC or DV is required due to programme needs.

Qualifications

• Experience in Configuration Management, Engineering Change Control, PLM, Technical Data Management, or a similar discipline.
• Strong understanding of configuration management principles and lifecycle governance.
• Experience producing configuration status reports and management information.

Responsibilities

• Define and maintain Configuration Items (CIs) across engineering programmes.
• Ensure all controlled documentation, drawings, specifications, and technical artefacts are uniquely identified and appropriately version controlled.
• Maintain configuration records within the organisation's configuration management system and document repository.
• Establish, maintain, and control approved engineering baselines.
• Ensure configuration baselines are accurately recorded and protected from unauthorised changes.
• Support the release and maintenance of design, functional, and product baselines.
• Administer configuration and engineering change processes in accordance with approved procedures.
• Coordinate change requests and support technical review activities.
• Ensure all configuration changes are correctly assessed, approved, implemented, and fully traceable.
• Work with engineering, project, and governance stakeholders to evaluate the impact of proposed changes.
• Maintain accurate records of current and historical configuration status.
• Produce configuration reports, metrics, and status information for programme leadership and stakeholders.
• Track baseline evolution and configuration change history throughout the project lifecycle.
• Plan and conduct physical and functional configuration audits.
• Support compliance against recognised industry and defence configuration management standards.
• Identify configuration discrepancies and non-conformances.
• Support corrective and preventative action activities arising from audit findings.
• Ensure configuration data is complete, accurate, consistent, and compliant with governance requirements.
• Promote best practice in configuration management and information assurance.
• Support audit readiness and regulatory compliance activities.
• Drive continuous improvement of configuration management processes and tools.
