Job summary

NHS Blood and Transplant seeks a Programme Manager to join the Digital Data & Technology Services (DDTS) team. You will lead large complex projects or smaller programmes, driving delivery across the full lifecycle and building strong relationships with stakeholders.

You will manage budgets, risks, and benefits realisation within a public-sector context, with travel and potential overnight stays as required. Hybrid working applies across NHSBT locations.

Qualifications

• Significant experience leading complex change programmes and specialist projects with demonstrable benefits delivered.
• Extensive experience as a Programme Manager, overseeing end-to-end delivery of complex programmes.
• Experience of developing business cases using the Five Case Model and navigating public-sector approvals.
• Proven track record in risk and issue management, governance and assurance processes.
• Experience of stakeholder engagement and communications planning at senior levels.
• Experience of line management, performance management and staff development.
• Experience of managing budgets and procurement processes in a public-sector context.
• Experience of benefits realisation and change management in complex environments.

Responsibilities

• Lead the delivery of complex, high-value projects and programmes that align with NHSBT objectives.
• Oversee full lifecycle design, planning, and implementation to deliver on time, within budget, and to quality constraints.
• Manage resources to deliver programme outcomes and strategic objectives.
• Direct day-to-day management of the programme delivery and associated projects, including budgeting and risk management.
• Provide structure and visibility over delivery, especially under uncertainty.
• Drive benefits realisation and measurable value for NHSB, donors, and patients.
• Lead multi-disciplinary teams within a matrix structure and support development and innovation.
• Ensure end-to-end delivery while navigating challenges and maintaining milestones.
