Job summary

Amey is seeking a permanent Principal Project Manager to join the Consulting Project Management team in a hybrid role with Manchester office space. The role demands leading project management teams, managing costs, and driving commercial success across portfolios.

The successful candidate will hold a Civil Engineering or Project Management degree, be a full member of a PM body, and possibly hold ChPP status, with proven ability to lead multidisciplinary teams and complex projects.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's or Master's degree such as Civil Engineering, Project Management.
• Full membership of the Association for Project Management or other PM Body (PMI, IPMA).
• Chartered Project Professional (ChPP) status with APM or equivalent.
• Applies PM principles to complex situations where adaptation is needed.
• Experience managing others and understanding project scope across minor/major projects.
• Strong knowledge of PM processes, procedures and tools; ability to review others' work.

Responsibilities

• Act as a project management team leader, providing guidance to project management teams, managers, clients and suppliers.
• Monitor and control project costs, progress, and scope variances with technical teams, maintaining quality, cost and schedule.
• Be responsible for the commercial success of projects, including budgets and costs of execution.
• Liaise with client and supplier representatives at peer level and higher, including presenting proposals.
• Contribute to bids and the bid process, coordinating technical and commercial offers with accountability to the bid director.
• Take on people manager responsibilities as required by the business.
