Job summary

MacKenzie King, Suffolk, is recruiting a Payroll Manager to take ownership of the payroll function across multiple entities. The role is hybrid, with 1-2 days per week in the office in Suffolk, and involves handling end-to-end payroll and payroll-related queries.

The ideal candidate has proven experience in payroll management, strong knowledge of HMRC requirements, pensions, and data protection, and excellent attention to detail and communication skills.

Qualifications

• Proven experience in payroll management or senior payroll positions.
• Strong knowledge of payroll legislation, HMRC requirements and pensions.
• Experience handling end-to-end payroll with high accuracy.
• Excellent attention to detail and organisational skills.
• Strong communication skills and relationship-building across the organisation.
• Experience using payroll systems and driving process improvement.

Responsibilities

• Manage the end-to-end payroll process across two entities.
• Coordinate month-end and year-end payroll activities, including reconciliations and reporting.
• Ensure compliance with payroll legislation, pensions, HMRC requirements and data protection regulations.
• Act as the main point of contact for employee payroll, pension, tax and National Insurance queries.
• Manage BACS payment processing and payroll approvals.
• Oversee starters, leavers, pension administration, P11Ds and payroll journals.
• Identify and implement improvements to payroll processes and controls.
• Provide support to wider finance activities as required.
