Job summary

Focus Group is seeking a Payroll Manager in the UK to lead end-to-end payroll across the group. This hands-on, high-impact role covers multiple entities, ensuring timely processing, 100% accuracy and statutory compliance, including pension and HMRC reporting.

You will manage a small payroll team, work with recently acquired businesses to integrate payrolls, and drive process improvements in a fast-growing technology services group.

Qualifications

• Experience running payroll for multi-entity groups and multiple PAYE schemes.
• Experience migrating acquired businesses onto a group payroll.
• Awareness of, or experience with, payrolling of benefits in kind.

Responsibilities

• Own end-to-end payroll management across the group, ensuring 100% statutory deadline compliance.
• Maintain payroll system administration, upgrades and testing; lead system migrations.
• Process starters, leavers, changes, overtime, absences and other deductions monthly.
• Handle pension, car, healthcare, cycle-to-work and childcare schemes processing.
• Be main contact with HMRC and pension providers for reporting obligations.
• Manage payroll reconciliations, resolve discrepancies and strengthen controls.
• Oversee year-end duties including P60s, P11Ds and PAYE settlement agreements.
• Monitor changes in payroll legislation and communicate impacts to staff.
• Collaborate with People team to automate starter/leaver workflows and data changes.
