Job summary

Pets at Home is seeking a Payroll Assistant to join our busy Payroll Team in Handforth, Cheshire. This 12 months FTC role offers hybrid working: one day in the office and four days from home, with a 39-hour week.

You will process payroll for around 9,000 colleagues on a four-weekly cycle, calculate SSP, statutory entitlements, deductions, and pension contributions, and handle queries with accuracy and confidentiality.

Qualifications

• Experience administering payroll in an office environment is essential.
• Good understanding of current payroll legislation.
• Experience using SAP payroll is an advantage but not essential.
• Experience with company cars and expenses is advantageous.
• Strong written and verbal communication and high attention to detail.
• Proficient in Word, Excel and Outlook, and handling confidential information with GDPR compliance.

Responsibilities

• Process timely, compliant payroll for ~9,000 colleagues on a four-weekly basis.
• Calculate SSP and company sick pay entitlements.
• Calculate statutory entitlements.
• Process AOE and CSA deductions.
• Process P45s and New Starter Checklists.
• Assess colleagues for auto-enrolment into the company pension scheme.
• Reconcile pension contribution files before submission to provider.
• Manage queries to deliver first-class service to colleagues.
• Support processing of P11d returns using third-party software.
