Job summary

Pets at Home in Handforth, Cheshire, is seeking a Payroll Assistant to join our busy Payroll Team. You will help administer payroll for around 9,000 colleagues on a four‑weekly cycle from our Handforth office in a hybrid setup.

The role requires experience in payroll, solid knowledge of current payroll legislation, and strong accuracy. SAP payroll experience is a plus, with a template for handling confidential data in a GDPR environment.

Qualifications

• Previous experience of administering payroll within an office environment is essential.
• Good understanding of current payroll legislation.
• Experience dealing with company cars and expenses would be advantageous.
• Must be computer literate in Word, Excel & Outlook.
• Able to handle confidential information and adhere to GDPR.

Responsibilities

• Part of team processing timely, compliant, and accurate payroll for c9,000 colleagues on a four-weekly basis across multiple payrolls.
• Calculating SSP and Company sick pay entitlements.
• Calculating statutory entitlements.
• Processing AOE and CSA deductions.
• Processing P45s and New Starter Checklists.
• Assessing colleagues for inclusion into the company pension scheme in line with auto-enrolment.
• Reconciliation of pension contributions files prior to submission to the pension provider.
• Query management to deliver first-class service to colleagues.
• Support the processing of P11d returns using 3rd party software.
