Job summary

Plymouth City Council is seeking a Minute Taker / Business Support Officer to support the Children & Young People's Services team at Ballard House, Plymouth. Hybrid working: 2 days office-based, 3 days working from home with flexibility.

The role involves producing accurate minutes for statutory meetings, maintaining records and supporting Child Protection Plans. Start date 19 October 2026; assignment ends 17 January 2027. DBS requirement and public sector experience preferred.

Qualifications

  • Minimum minute-taking experience.
  • Strong written communication, grammar and spelling.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office.
  • Experience in a busy office environment.
  • Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • GCSE Maths and English (or equivalent).
  • NVQ Level 3 Business Administration or equivalent experience.

Responsibilities

  • Producing accurate minutes for statutory meetings.
  • Recording and summarising complex discussions professionally and concisely.
  • Supporting the creation and maintenance of Child Protection Plans.
  • Maintaining accurate records, databases and attendee information.
  • Handling sensitive and confidential information appropriately.
  • Updating relevant systems and providing general business support and administrative assistance as required.
