Job summary

Rogers McHugh Recruitment is seeking a Mechanical Estimator for an established MEP contractor based in Tyldesley, Greater Manchester. You will develop tenders for mechanical packages valued from £1m to £15m, with work primarily in the accommodation sector and a Design and Build focus.

You will analyse drawings with gaps, produce complete estimates, carry out take-offs, source quotations, and ensure competitive prices while protecting margins.

Qualifications

• Solid background as a Mechanical Estimator in the building services or MEP sector.
• Experience pricing mechanical installations on construction projects.
• Experience with Design and Build projects is essential.
• Comfort pricing from detailed specifications and from drawings with limited information.
• Ability to identify information gaps and build a complete tender.
• Commercial awareness to protect margins.

Responsibilities

• Prepare mechanical estimates and tenders for MEP package values £1m–£15m.
• Review tender enquiries, drawings and specs to determine included scope.
• Carry out take-offs, obtain supplier quotations, and build labour and material costs.
• Develop commercially sensible tenders to maximise win chance while safeguarding margins.
• Assess risks and document assumptions clearly.
