Job summary

Barker Associates in the United Kingdom is seeking a Mechanical Design Engineer to develop their career across a diverse portfolio of building services projects. The role will be based at either our Birmingham or Braintree offices, with hybrid working available subject to business needs.

You will deliver mechanical engineering solutions from concept to completion, conduct surveys, prepare drawings and specifications, and work with internal teams and external consultants to ensure coordinated

Qualifications

• Degree (or equivalent) in Mechanical Engineering.
• Relevant industry experience in building services / mechanical design.
• Working towards or desire to achieve professional accreditation (e.g. CIBSE, IMechE or equivalent).
• Proficiency in AutoCAD and familiarity with BIM/Revit and IES.

Responsibilities

• Deliver mechanical engineering solutions across projects from concept to completion.
• Carry out condition and technical surveys of existing buildings and produce clear reports.
• Prepare mechanical calculations, designs, drawings, and specifications.
• Produce documentation and drawings for tender stages and assist in tender evaluations.
• Collaborate with internal teams and external consultants to ensure coordinated design delivery.
