Job summary

Barker Associates is an award-winning, employee-owned property consultancy delivering Architecture and Design, Project Management, Surveying, Engineering, and Energy services across the UK. We are seeking a Mechanical Design Engineer to advance their career, working on a diverse portfolio from our offices in Braintree or Birmingham, with optional hybrid work based on business needs.

You will deliver mechanical engineering solutions, coordinate with multi-disciplinary teams, and ensure compliance

Qualifications

• Degree in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent.
• Experience in building services / mechanical design.
• Working towards or desire to achieve professional accreditation (e.g. CIBSE, IMechE or equivalent).

Responsibilities

• Deliver mechanical engineering solutions across projects from concept to completion.
• Carry out condition and technical surveys of existing buildings and produce clear reports.
• Prepare mechanical calculations, designs, drawings, and specifications.
• Produce documentation and drawings for tender stages and assist in tender evaluations.
• Collaborate with internal teams and external consultants to ensure coordinated design delivery.
