Job summary

Aldwych Consulting in the United Kingdom is seeking a Principal/Associate Mechanical Engineer to lead delivery of high-quality, sustainable mechanical building services across a diverse built environment portfolio from Bournemouth or Reading.

You will head projects from concept to completion, coordinate design teams, manage client expectations and development of colleagues, while supporting business development and maintaining regulatory compliance.

Qualifications

Degree in Mechanical or Building Services Engineering.
Significant consultancy experience in mechanical building services.
Strong knowledge delivering complex mechanical designs.
Proven experience leading projects and multidisciplinary design teams.
Strong client-facing and stakeholder management.
Excellent written and verbal communication; able to handle challenging situations.
Commercial awareness including project financial management and risk mitigation.
Experience mentoring engineers and technical staff.
Strong organisational skills and ability to manage multiple deadlines.

Responsibilities

Act as senior client contact and build long-term relationships.
Establish project briefs, manage client expectations and represent the consultancy at meetings.
Lead mechanical engineering projects from concept through to delivery.
Coordinate multidisciplinary design teams and specialist engineering disciplines.
Manage workloads, resources and project priorities to ensure successful delivery.
Provide technical leadership and review the work of engineers and junior team members.
Monitor project financial performance, expenditure, resources and risks.
Identify opportunities to develop existing client relationships and generate new business.
Support bids, proposals and other business development activity.
Ensure designs meet relevant standards, regulations and technical requirements.
Identify and mitigate project risks and procurement considerations.
Contribute to technical knowledge sharing and best practice.
