Job summary

WSP, a leading global engineering firm, is seeking Lighting Engineers from Engineer to Principal level to support Local Government and SRN projects in the UK. You'll design lighting layouts, coordinate with suppliers, and guide junior staff across national projects.

Qualifications

• Proficient in Lighting Reality or Dialux and AutoCAD.
• Strong understanding of external lighting standards and regulations.
• General awareness of electrical design and lighting maintenance.
• Ability to take lighting design from conception to construction issue.
• Independent worker with strong communication and organisational skills.
• Capable of coaching junior team members.
• Experience in Local Government or Strategic Road Network sectors.
• Membership in a relevant professional organisation or working towards IEng/CEng.
• Senior roles require project leadership and risk management.

Responsibilities

• Produce detailed design layouts and supporting documents.
• Prepare feasibility and option reports.
• Engage with luminaire, column, controls suppliers.
• Coordinate with contractors and respond to RFIs.
• Perform non-intrusive site visits for lighting assessments.
• Support development of proposals and track milestones.
• Liaise with Local Authority and SRN clients.
• Guide junior team members and collaborate with multidisciplinary teams.
• Represent WSP in the lighting industry and drive business development.
