Job summary

_nology is seeking a Java Developer in Newcastle to join a high‑profile technology delivery environment. You will build enterprise applications using Java (JDK 11+) and Spring Boot, and contribute to microservices-based solutions within an Agile team.

This is a 12‑month fixed‑term contract with the intention to convert to permanent. Hybrid work: 3 days per week in the Newcastle office, salary £35k–£45k depending on experience.

Qualifications

• 2-5 years hands-on Java development experience.
• Strong knowledge of Java and Spring Boot.
• Experience with microservices and CI/CD in Agile environments.
• Familiarity with AWS is desirable.

Responsibilities

• Develop enterprise applications using Java (JDK 11+) and Spring Boot.
• Build and support microservices-based solutions.
• Work closely with cloud, DevOps and testing teams.
• Participate in Agile ceremonies including sprint planning, stand-ups and retrospectives.
• Follow engineering best practices including TDD, CI/CD and code quality standards.
• Support end-to-end delivery from development through testing and deployment.
