Job summary

Opus Recruitment Solutions Ltd is seeking a Java Engineer to join a leading technology consultancy delivering large-scale digital transformation programmes for high-profile clients in Newcastle. The role combines cloud-native development, microservices, REST APIs and secure AWS deployments within agile teams.

The 12-month fixed-term contract offers hybrid working (3 days onsite) with a strong pathway into permanent employment for successful candidates.

Qualifications

• Commercial Java development experience required.
• Java (JDK 11+) experience essential.
• Spring Boot exposure required.
• REST API design and consumption experience.
• Experience with microservices architectures and AWS.

Responsibilities

• Develop Java-based enterprise applications and microservices.
• Build secure, scalable solutions using Java and Spring Boot.
• Work on AWS-hosted cloud solutions.
• Develop and consume REST APIs.
• Contribute to modern microservices architectures.
• Collaborate with engineering, DevOps, testing and architecture teams.
• Participate in Agile ceremonies and follow CI/CD, TDD and automated testing.
