Job summary

Basildon Borough Council is seeking an Interim Repairs Contract Manager for a 6-month period to lead a hybrid role, attending the office three days per week in Basildon. The post is inside IR35 and pays £600 per day umbrella.

You will oversee repairs and maintenance contracts, ensuring performance, quality, and value for money, with a strong focus on resident experience and timely reporting to stakeholders.

Qualifications

• Degree in Building Surveying or related subject.
• Membership of a professional body (RICS/CIOB).
• Extensive knowledge of repairs and maintenance contract requirements and safety legislation.
• Senior experience managing contractor compliance against contract requirements.
• Knowledge of procurement, contract management and KPI reporting.
• Experience working with resident groups and reporting to varied audiences.

Responsibilities

• Ensure contractor performance meets contract and KPI requirements.
• Manage contract financials and ensure value for money.
• Ensure quality workmanship and materials meet standards.
• Control subcontractors and approve variations per contract.
• Develop action plans for non-compliance and drive improvements.
• Ensure residents have a positive repairs journey and high satisfaction.
• Maintain constructive client-contractor relationships and effective communications.
• Address complaints promptly following Housing Ombudsman guidelines.
